Radio Dad is an iOS app for discovering and tuning into more than 50,000 live radio stations from every corner of the world. Spin a globe, drop into a city, and listen, with extras like on-device Live Captions, song recognition, synced lyrics, and world podcasts you can follow, download and translate.
Yes. The heart of Radio Dad, globe and Zap discovery, unlimited listening, favorites, history, podcasts, a free sleep timer, and a few song IDs a day, costs nothing, and there are no ads. An optional Premium subscription, which starts with a 14-day free trial, unlocks unlimited Live Captions & translation, song lyrics & translation, unlimited song recognition with your full song library kept forever, and the in-car Browse and Genres tabs.
Turn on captions while a station is playing and Radio Dad transcribes the speech, then optionally translates it into your language, in real time. It all runs on your device, privately. Live Captions is a Premium feature, with a free preview so you can try it first.
Captions can write out speech in more than 50 languages, including Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Hungarian and Hindi. Translation covers a smaller set of around twenty: Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. A language outside that set, like Greek or Hungarian, can still be captioned, it just can't be auto-translated yet. Song identification, lyrics, and the rest of the app work in any language. These lists come from Apple's on-device models and grow as Apple adds languages with each iOS update.
On the Globe, spin the planet and the station under the centre crosshair starts playing, no tapping required. Zap lets you flick from station to station like a radio dial. Prefer browsing? The Discover tab has a featured pick, top stations from your country, moods, and what's trending worldwide, and you can search the whole catalogue from one tap.
Tap to identify the track with Shazam. Radio Dad then lets you open it in Apple Music or Spotify with synced lyrics, and saves every identification to your song library, grouped by country. Free users get a few song IDs a day; unlimited recognition, full lyrics, and your complete library are part of Premium.
Yes, and it is free. Radio Dad appears on your car's CarPlay display with Favorites, Recents and Now Playing so you can pick a station safely while you drive; Premium adds the Browse (trending) and Genres tabs. The globe itself stays on your phone. CarPlay shows simple, glanceable lists by design. And even without CarPlay, a free Driving Mode gives you big, glanceable controls that flip to dark for the car, and can start on their own when your car connects over Bluetooth.
Road Trip is a free feature that turns a journey into radio. Pick two countries and Radio Dad draws the real driving route between them on the globe, then plays local stations from each country as the trip crosses its borders, and you can share a trip with a tap.
Yes, and the whole thing is free. On Apple Watch, Radio Dad is a standalone radio: tap a station and it plays straight from your wrist, with no iPhone needed. Turn the Digital Crown to spin across the globe dot by dot, and start Running Radio to keep playing through a workout. Your favorites and history sync over from your device through iCloud, no subscription needed.
Live radio changes constantly: stations go offline, move, or update their streams. Radio Dad's directory is built from open, community-contributed listings, which change as the community updates them. If a station is consistently broken or mislocated, email us the station name and we'll look into it.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple. To manage or cancel, open Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions on your device and choose Radio Dad. Cancel anytime; you'll keep Premium until the end of the current billing period. Refund requests are handled by Apple.
Very. You don't need an account, captions run on-device, and streams play directly from the broadcaster, and we never record or relay them. There are no ads and no third-party analytics or trackers in the app; your favorites and history stay yours. Read the full Privacy Policy.
Radio Dad is a universal app: it runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS and iPadOS 18 or later) and on Apple Silicon Macs, with a free standalone Apple Watch app and CarPlay support. The app's own menus and screens are in fifteen languages: English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), with full right-to-left layout for Arabic. Live Captions and translation cover a different, longer list, shown under "Which languages do Live Captions and translation support?" above.

For broadcasters: station takedowns
If you operate a station and would like it removed from Radio Dad's directory, or you believe a listing infringes your rights, email [email protected] with:
- The station name and stream URL as listed.
- Your name and relationship to the station (owner, rights holder, authorized agent).
- A brief statement of the request.
We aim to action valid requests promptly, typically within 48 hours. Because Radio Dad links directly to broadcasters' own streams and never re-streams or records them, removal simply takes the listing out of our directory. See our Terms for more.
