94.5 · THE PROGRAMME GUIDE
Listen to radio from other countries.
Many stations stream online, so radio from another country is a tap away. The hard part is finding it. Here are three ways I do it, from a browser tab to a globe to a road trip, plus what to expect when a stream will not play.
Short answer: You can listen to radio from other countries for free, online. Open the Radio Dad web player in a browser and pick a country page, or spin the 3D globe in the Radio Dad app for iPhone and iPad, which covers 50,000+ live stations from 230+ countries and territories. Neither needs an account, and there are no ads.
How can I listen to radio from other countries for free?
The quickest way is a web player in your browser. The Radio Dad web player at listen.radiodad.app is free, needs no download and no account, and has a page of live stations for each country. Open a country page and press play.
- Radio from Germany
- Radio from France
- Radio from Spain
- Radio from Italy
- Radio from Türkiye
- Radio from Japan
- Radio from Brazil
- Radio from Mexico
If you care more about the kind of radio than the place, start from a genre page instead: news, talk or jazz.
Is there a world radio app with a globe?
Yes. The Radio Dad app for iPhone and iPad puts 50,000+ live stations from 230+ countries and territories on a 3D globe, and you spin it to tune. It needs iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, and listening is free.
If you know what you want, search by name, country, city, genre or language instead. The stations come from radio-browser.info, an open, community-run database released under CC0, and each stream plays directly from the broadcaster. CarPlay is free, and there is an Apple Watch app. When a song catches your ear, identify it with Shazam and see synced lyrics. Free users get 5 identifications a day. If you already use Radio Garden, here is how Radio Dad compares to Radio Garden.

Can I hear the radio along a route between two countries?
Yes, with Road Trip in the free Radio Dad web player. Pick two countries and Road Trip plans the real road between their capitals. It then tunes a local station in each country you cross.
It is an easy way to hear how radio changes from one country to the next without choosing every station yourself. Open the web player to try it.
How do I understand radio in a language I don't speak?
Turn on live captions in the Radio Dad app. On iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later, it writes down what the station says and translates it on your device, with the original and the translation shown together as sentence pairs, or the translation only. The audio never leaves your device. It works best on clear news and talk, and much less well on speech over music. Captions and translation are part of Premium, with one free 2-minute preview. If you want to use this to learn a language, read how to learn a language with foreign radio.
Why won't some foreign radio stations play?
Some streams are offline, and some broadcasters block listeners outside their own country. Radio Dad plays each stream directly from the broadcaster, so when that stream is down or geo-blocked, there is nothing to play. Try another station from the same city or country.
Radio Dad also does not carry exclusive licensed content, such as a network's sports coverage. It plays the live streams that broadcasters make public, nothing more. If a programme is only available inside one company's own app, you will not find it here.

How can I listen to radio from other countries?
Use an internet radio player, because many stations stream online. The free Radio Dad web player at listen.radiodad.app has a page of live stations for each country, with no download and no account. On iPhone and iPad, the Radio Dad app puts 50,000+ live stations from 230+ countries and territories on a 3D globe you spin to tune, and you can also search by name, country, city, genre or language. Listening is free in both.
Is there a free world radio app?
Yes. Radio Dad for iPhone and iPad is free to listen to, with no ads, no tracking and no account. It collects anonymous usage statistics only. It carries 50,000+ live stations from the open, community-run radio-browser.info database. CarPlay is free and there is an Apple Watch app. An optional Premium plan, $9.99 per month or $39.99 per year, adds live captions and translation, and the 7-day free trial is on the yearly plan only.
Can I listen to foreign radio online without an app?
Yes. The Radio Dad web player at listen.radiodad.app runs in your browser with no download and no account. It has a page for each country, such as Germany, Japan or Brazil, and genre pages such as news, talk and jazz. It also has a Road Trip mode: pick two countries, and it plans the real road between their capitals and tunes a local station in each country you cross. Captions and translation need the iPhone or iPad app.
Why won't some radio stations from other countries play?
Usually the stream itself is the problem. Radio Dad plays each station directly from the broadcaster and does not record or relay anything. So if a broadcaster's stream is offline, or the broadcaster blocks listeners outside its country, there is nothing to play. Try another station from the same city or country. Radio Dad also does not carry exclusive licensed content, such as a network's sports coverage, because it only plays the streams that broadcasters make public.
Can I understand radio in a language I don't speak?
Yes, for speech. On iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later, Radio Dad can caption a live station and translate it on your device, showing the original and the translation as sentence pairs, or the translation only. The audio never leaves your device. Captions cover 30+ languages and translation about 20, depending on your iOS version. It works best on clear news and talk. It is part of Premium, with one free 2-minute preview.
